Summary

This position is responsible for the Sustainability program including setting strategy and implementation in the US for Daiichi Sankyo and will report to the VP, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer with reporting also to head of Sustainability in Tokyo, Japan and will 1) partner with colleagues in Japan and at US affiliates to establish the company's Sustainability strategy, goals, and plans 2) develop and maintain a governance structure in the US to support the collection of data, disclosures, and promote Sustainability initiatives; and 3) collaborate with various business unit leaders to operationalize Sustainability in business practices.

Responsibilities

- Develop and manage the governance of a Sustainability program for the US affiliates to include necessary resourcing, proposing strategy and operational plans to achieve defined targets particularly for energy management within the US operational units, creating clear data collection processes/systems for Sustainability data, updating leadership on changes in legal and regulatory requirements related to mandatory and voluntary nonfinancial reporting and disclosure (both in US and internationally), collaborating with business units and functions to ensure Sustainability measures, targets and messaging is incorporated and part of the business practices and goals.
- Develop and maintain ongoing plans to promote Sustainability and energy management throughout the US affiliates ensuring employees, vendors, contractors understand the company's initiatives and goals. Ensure Sustainability common messaging is built into the company's lexicon.
- Serve as Liaison to Global Sustainability Promotion Department based in Tokyo, Japan including proposing strategy and operational plans to achieve company sustainability targets; oversee necessary reporting to Global Sustainability Promotion Department and responding to specific requests from that department.
- Manage resources, internally and externally, to support the Sustainability program in the US.

Education Qualifications (from an accredited college or university)

- Bachelor's Degree required
- Master's Degree preferred

Experience Qualifications

- 10 or More Years ESG, Sustainability Management required
- 4 or More Years Pharmaceutical industry preferred

Travel

Ability to travel up to 10%. Travel to Japan and Germany at least annually
