ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION:
  • For Service, Technical Support, Marketing & Sales Roles: Additional compensation is available through either an Incentive and/or Commission Plan.
  • For Employees who reside in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and California, additional compensation is offered through a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA).

POSITION SUMMARY:

The individual in this position is responsible for providing technical support for the region. He or she assists on demonstrations and sales calls, does installations, trains customer and regional personnel, develops application notes and runs customers' samples to demonstrate proof of principle as well as help customers adapt methodology for our instruments; as well as other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.

This position is required to assist the sales efforts by installing instruments and training customers in their uses at customer sites.

JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Assist with Demonstrations and sales calls (Daily)
  • Perform Installations when needed (Weekly)
  • Help customers adapt methodology for our instrumentation (Daily)
  • Assist the Product Managers in achieving customer satisfaction (Daily)
  • Manage and maintain the regional demonstration inventory (Weekly)
  • Assist and consult on regional and customer training (Weekly)
  • Assist the Technical Support Manager as needed (Daily)
  • Must travel overnight, as the position requires (Weekly)
  • Must travel by air and drive as required (Daily)
  • Make presentations to customers (monthly)
  • Assist with application note writing/creation (monthly)

    This position's primary focus is to provide technical expertise for the selling effort of the region.

    PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS:

    The incumbent must have problem solving skills, which are required to solve customer and regional problems. Must have a technical proficiency on at least two lines of instrumentation in-order to troubleshoot and solve problems.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Chemistry, or a closely related field and at least one (1) years of laboratory experience with analytical instrumentation is required. Extra consideration will be given to candidates with experience in gas chromatography (GC) and high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC).

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    The position requires frequent lifting (or by other means for movement) of instrumentation/parts. Physical demands may include frequent bending; stooping, squatting, standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time and pulling/pushing of parts can also be expected. Incumbent must be able to lift-up to 20 pounds routinely throughout the day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

    SAFETY/PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

    Position is required to maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards in-particular to laboratory safety protocol. Proper use of personal protective equipment and safety devices as required by the Corporate Safety Document policies and procedures and/or customer dictated policy.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    This position is home based and will require daily travel to customer locations and/or the regional office. The position requires the incumbent to have the ability to work alone on projects, as well as, collaborating as part of team. Incumbent may work at several different work sites during the course of a business day in order to support the needs of Shimadzu customers. Extra hours may periodically be required, in order to fulfill the functions required by this position. The position requires proper handling of public inquires in a prompt and friendly manner.
