We have an immediate opening in our Monmouth Junction, NJ facility for a Senior Manager, Business Development.

The primary role of the Senior Manager, Business Development is to evaluate acquisition, in-licensing and out-licensing opportunities and make recommendations regarding the same. This is a unique opportunity to play a significant role across both buy-side and sell-side projects in a growing, mid-sized organization. She/he will have key responsibilities across the deal process including identification of opportunities, evaluation from a strategic, commercial, scientific, and financial standpoint, and execution (due diligence, negotiation, etc.). She/he will be expected to interact with and present their work to internal and external executives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Significantly contribute to the evaluation of in-license/M&A opportunities: analyze market and competitive landscape, assess financial and overall potential, determine strategic fit, outline strategic alternatives available, manage due diligence process, and succinctly present findings and recommendations to senior management

• Lead critical aspects of the technology partnership process: identify promising opportunities and create business case, manage outreach and develop relationships with prospective partners, and heavily support deal structuring and negotiation

• Prepare and present robust financial models to assess opportunities under evaluation; provide input on deal terms and creation of relevant clinical, regulatory, and commercial scenarios

• Prepare clear and concise presentations across a range of BD projects to senior management and external stakeholders

• Collaborate and partner with a range of internal functions to support business development and other strategic initiatives. This includes, but is not limited to: Research, Product Development, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, CMC, New Products, Sales & Marketing, and Legal

• Maintain and develop expertise in the use of the relevant data sources used by business development

Requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a business or scientific discipline (MBA, MD or graduate degree in life sciences preferred) and minimum 3 years business development experience in a pharmaceutical company or comparable experience within an investment bank, venture capital fund or consulting firm

• Ability to explain complex concepts and synthesize recommendations to an executive-level audience

• Strong analytical skills, proficiency with financial modeling and demonstrated understanding of fundamental corporate finance and accounting topics

• Exceptional intellectual curiosity and a desire to work closely with cross-functional team members and be a thought partner across functions

• Thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical market and experience with opportunity assessment, product development and life-cycle management strategies

• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office software, especially Excel

• Ability and willingness to travel overnight/internationally, as required, to successfully perform the assigned role
