The Position

Provides support to the legal staff, primarily by preparing and reviewing agreements and other documents, conducting legal research, gathering data and conducting analyses, and providing project management support.

Relationships

Reports to Deputy General Counsel in the Legal Department. Will play an integral role on the legal team that supports Market Access & Public Affairs, Pricing & Contracting, Supply Chain, and Privacy. Assists attorneys in the Legal Department in the delivery of legal services. Interacts with individuals in other NNI departments and affiliate companies. Also, may interact with outside law firms, vendors, government agencies, and business entities.

Essential Functions
  • Supports the drafting and review of agreements from various departments within the organization, including sponsorship agreements, collaboration agreements, association memberships, and grant agreements; engages in contract negotiation as necessary
  • Acts as lead on key projects
  • Drafts template agreements as directed
  • Identifies appropriate laws, judicial decisions, and legal arguments that are relevant to assigned matters
  • On own initiative, follows up on outstanding issues and keeps attorneys informed of status
  • Regularly handles highly confidential matters with discretion and judgment
  • Researches statutes, regulations and case law and prepares informative material for general use by the attorneys
  • Serves as support for key processes within the Legal Department and identifies process improvements

Physical Requirements

0-10% overnight travel required.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor 's degree required; relevant experience may be substituted for degree where appropriate
  • A minimum of 5 years of paralegal experience or other relevant experience required
  • A Paralegal Certification strongly preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of the business and day-to-day operations
  • Excellent organizational, planning and follow-through skills
  • Must be a self-starter; flexible; customer-focused; and have a professional demeanor
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong analytical, research, and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
