Title: Medallion Labs Gluten Lab Technician

The first is in the gluten lab and works a modified shift of Wednesday through Sunday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm onsite at JFB.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

• World class quality, state of the art technologies, talented lab work force, exceptional human safety record
• Sample preparation, food safety and nutritional testing for components of commercial food products

POSITION OVERVIEW:

In our labs we receive samples from two sources: *** (GMI) ingredients or products submitted by R&D, Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) and the supply chain; and consumer products submitted by external clients of Medallion Labs.

The Medallion Labs analyst has accountability to support all laboratory testing needs on a weekly basis. This position requires the ability to take direction, and at times work autonomously, to support the needs within the Medallion Operations Organization. The position requires significant attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Must be able to perform or learn a minimum of the following laboratory skills including prepping of samples, accurate weighing, pipetting, and quantitative transfer of solutions and samples; ability to work with care around hazardous compounds, preparation of solutions; calculation of results; evaluation of the quality of results; operation of common lab equipment; basic troubleshooting and maintenance of lab equipment. This position will involve laboratory testing of food products for one or more attributes.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Facilitate analytical testing or sample preparation for Medallion in conjunction with other team members
• Provide support and flexibility related to the analysis of samples or preparation for Medallion Labs
• Document results and review data generated by LIMS or instrumentation to maximize output and meet deadlines
• Meet department Quality expectations including:
o Complying with Medallion and ISO 17025 quality requirements
o Identifying and addressing quality control issues
o Completing quality investigations in a thorough and timely manner
o Perform routine instrument maintenance, troubleshooting and other maintenance required by the Reliability Program
• Develop a strong knowledge of the portion of the analytical methods being trained on
• Maintain a work environment that complies with GMI and Medallion safety rules
• Actively participate in customer and accreditation audits as needed.
• Participate in continuous improvement of laboratory and team operations
• Other responsibilities as required by specific lab

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Able to coordinate multiple tasks effectively
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; PC skills: proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Works well with individuals and teams; displays a positive attitude
• Excellent judgment and problem-solving ability; Flexibility and adaptability
• Available to flex work schedule when business need dictates
• Demonstrated ability to efficiently organize workload and maintain proper documentation.
• High individual energy with very strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage in Productive Discourse

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• 0-3 Years of relevant work experience
• Associate's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biology or related science field preferred, but not required

REQUIRED JOB COMPETENCIES:
• Must work well in a team setting
• Ability to work independently or demonstrate ability to acquire such skills
• Demonstrated ability to efficiently organize workload and maintain proper documentation
• Technical Excellence, Judgment and Problem Solving, Flexibility and Adaptability
