The position of ServiceNow CMDB & Discovery Specialist has responsibility for s upporting the standardization, design, implementation, and sustainment of ServiceNow Discovery capabilities and integration of CMDB with authoritative data sources based on ServiceNow leading practices. This position will support our Global Operations Management (GOM) function, and collaborate with colleagues from IT Data Quality , IT Analytics & Reporting , IT Service Management, Governance Risk & Compliance , Cloud/Infrastructure/Application Management, and Enterprise Architecture to define, analyze, implement, and sustain improvements to enable the delivery of quality IT services throughout the organization.

Primary activities/responsibilities
  • Defining, measuring and systematically analyzing opportunities to integrate CMDB with authoritative data sources (i.e., ServiceNow Discovery, SCCM, Qualys, etc.) and driving process and capability improvements; derived efforts may include process and tool re-engineering, solution architecture / design, project initiation, and/or project management.
  • Identifying opportunities and engaging other support organizations to create or improve CMDB processes and tools to meet identified needs.
  • Determining the authoritative data sources that provide accurate and trusted information for CMDB.
  • Utilizing appropriate tools and technologies for integrating CMDB with authoritative data sources
  • Understanding the structure and format of the authoritative data sources and mapping it to our CMDB data model.
  • Validating and cleansing the data from authoritative sources before integrating it into CMDB.
  • Establishing mechanisms for maintaining data synchronization between CMDB and the authoritative sources.
  • Implementing error handling mechanisms to capture and handle any data integration errors or failures.
  • Regularly monitoring the data integration processes to ensure their reliability and effectiveness.
  • Documenting the integration processes, including data mappings, transformation rules, integration flows, and any customizations or configurations.

Required competencies:
  • Proficiency with ServiceNow Discovery and, ServiceNow CMDB
  • MSc Degree or BSc Degree or equivalent with relevant experience in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, Math, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years of applied work experience
  • ITIL Foundation level certification or demonstrated understanding and ability to effectively use the various components of ITIL
  • Ability to work with diverse teams and suppliers globally
  • Excellent skills using IT applications to organize and analyse data
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate with various IT teams
  • Ability to multi-task and keep multiple responsibilities moving forward simultaneously
  • Ability to negotiate and orchestrate solutions through multiple resources
  • Ability to teach and mentor others
  • Strong process orientation with strong attention to details
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with infrastructure services (i.e., compute, storage, databases), network services, and cloud services (i.e., AWS and Microsoft Azure)

Preferred competencies:
  • Experience in leveraging the capabilities of the ServiceNow Common Service Data Model (CSDM), ServiceNow IT Service Management (ITSM), ServiceNow Hardware Asset Management, ServiceNow Reporting, ServiceNow Knowledge Management, and Now Platform
  • Experience in integrating CMDB with third-party data sources such as SCCM and Qualys
  • Experience with ServiceNow Multisource CMDB and Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE) capabilities
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow integration methods (i.e., ServiceNow API, ServiceNow Service Graph Connector)
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist, Certified System Administrator (CSA), or Certified Application Developer (CAD) certification
  • ITIL Specialist or ITIL Strategist certification
  • Familiarity with System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and procedures
  • Experience with agile development
  • Experience with software testing, Micro Focus ALM/Quality Centre, and Good Documentation Practices
