Overview

The Director of Medical Process Excellence will be responsible to develop and evolve strategic planning processes, frameworks/templates, and governance around core medical affairs deliverables to ensure operational excellence. This role will be highly strategic and require close collaboration across all areas of Medical Affairs (Medical Strategy, Field Medical, HEOR, Medical Information, Medical Excellence). The Director of Medical Process Excellence will also work closely cross-functionally to ensure alignment and cohesion. The Director of Medical Process Excellence will ensure efficient processes that drive strategic thinking and impact across Medical Affairs launches. This role will a key member of Medical Affairs Teams (MATs) to drive operational excellence and new ways of working.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning - Develop strategic planning and process excellence frameworks and templates for core Medical Affairs deliverables (annual Medical plan, Launch Readiness, etc) ensuring structured approach to achieve impact
  • Governance - Develop operating principles for core Medical Affairs bodies (MATs, MAST, IET, etc) to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in desired outputs.
  • Franchise and Cross-functional Integration: Foster alignment and integration across teams (franchise link) ensuring proactive collaboration and cohesion in achieving goals. Partner cross-functionally and across regions to ensure ways of working and deliverables ladder effectively into cross-functional and regional processes.
  • Change Management: Drive change management and adoption of new ways of working across the organization.
  • Medical Affairs Functional Strategy: Partner with Medical Affairs Director of Strategic Optimization on overarching medical affairs initiatives and programs to deliver medical vision. Support transformational projects to deliver a best in class medical affairs organization.
  • Digital: Identify opportunities to drive efficiency via new digital solutions and tools
  • Strategic Optimization: Drive innovation and agile methodology to optimize ways of working. Bring in industry standards
  • Impact: Drive an impact focused approach in all processes and governance designs ensuring ability to measure
  • Influential Leadership: Ability to understand current process gaps, develop solutions, and influence stakeholders to a common goal
  • Communication: Drive best practice sharing and learnings across launch teams and maintain documentation for institutional knowledge for future success
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors or equivalent 4-Year University degree required, other advanced degree (MBA, MPH, PharmD, PhD, MD) advantage
  • Combination of pharmaceutical industry experience in Medical Affairs, Development, or Commercial and/or prior consulting experience required (7-10 years)
  • Strong knowledge of Medical Affairs processes and understanding of key activities required (3-5 years)
  • Proven track record of leading business planning and process optimization
  • Forward looking with continuous process improvement mentality
  • Ability to lead complex projects with a pragmatic approach
  • Strong strategic thinking with ability to connect multiple components
  • Strong leadership presence and ability to present and engage with senior leaders
  • Ability to influence decision making
  • Proven track record of effectively driving change

  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal partners

Travel Requirements

Up to 20% travel

Salary Range

Insmed takes into consideration a combination of candidate's education, training, and experience as well as the position's scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.

The base salary range for this job is from $175,000.00 to $241,667.00 per year
