The Cardiometabolic Disease (CMD) department at our company's Research Labs South San Francisco is seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join our team. The prospective candidate will be working in a multidisciplinary group to identify, validate and advancing drug targets for metabolic diseases. -

The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in biology, physiology, or a related field, with a strong scientific background and a track record of research in the area of metabolism and associated disorders, demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and presentations at scientific conferences.- The successful candidate should have extensive in vivo experiences in developing preclinical models in the context of metabolic diseases.- The individual will be expected to design, plan, and execute experiments independently in the laboratory and provide scientific and technical input on subject matters. The individual will be expected to work on multiple projects in parallel and contribute to the team's efforts in target identification and validation. The individual should be highly self-motivated, possess strong technical skills, have strong written and oral communication skills, and be able to work productively in a collaborative and cross-functional team environment within and outside of the company's Research Laboratories.

-The individual will be expected to possess quantitative skills for analysis and interpretation of experimental data appropriately and proficiently. The individual will be expected to communicate experimental results with stakeholders effectively and present research findings at internal and external meetings.

Qualification:
  • Ph.D. degree in biology, physiology, or a related discipline, with at least 2 years of postdoctoral experience in an academic or industrial setting.
  • Experience in metabolism, inflammation or a related field, with a particular focus on metabolic disorders. -
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems by undertaking innovative approaches and applying state-of-the art technologies.-
  • Hands-on experience with working on rodents and development of animal models.
  • Molecular biology, cellular biology, cell-based assay, and ex vivo sample processing and analysis.
  • Scientific curiosity, analytical mindset with a drive to own a project to understand biology, mechanism of action and drive it through the discovery pipeline.
  • Ability to work independently, designing appropriately controlled experiments, interpreting data and presenting to teams within and outside the disease area.
  • Proficiency in communication, having necessary people skills, and being able to work effectively in a matrixed environment.

Desired:
  • In-depth knowledge in etiology and pathophysiology of metabolic disorders.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: target identification & validation, neuroscience, enteroendocrine biology, peripheral and central control of energy balance, and adipose or muscle biology.
  • Hands-on experience with standard molecular biology techniques.
  • Strong quantitative skills and proficiency in data analysis. Ability to extract useful information from big data.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Expected salary range:
$125,000.00 - $196,800.00
