Regional Lean Practitioner

Location: US (Mount Vernon)

In this role, you will provide expert support, technical knowledge and be a subject matter expert on the AstraZeneca supply system (Lean & Manufacturing Excellence methodologies).  You will be involved in coaching and developing capabilities in others to support successful implementation of the AstraZeneca Supply System in multiple locations.  You will drive a deployed network of regional, site and functional Lean champions to standardise, develop and improve the processes, ensuring correct and consistent implementation.

You will have significant application experience of Lean principles, processes, tools, behaviours and leadership and a comprehensive understanding of how Lean principles and tools are applied to the business as a whole.

Key accountabilities:

In this role you will support regional sites and functions in the delivery of the AstraZeneca Supply System.  You will ensure Lean Implementation processes and practices from start to finish are understood and applied in an effective and efficient manner.

You will engage and lead a network of champions at site, regional and functional level to define and deploy the standard Global lean processes and practices.  You will also influence, review and assist in the preparation of regional, site and functional Lean transformation maps and tactical implementation plans to ensure the requirements of the standard implementation processes and practices owned by the role holder are considered and incorporated.

Work with the Regional & Functional Lead Leaders to ensure there is sufficient capability within the region, sites and functions to implement and embed the processes effectively and assist in establishing suitable education & training to develop and maintain the necessary capabilities within the regional supply chain.

You will drive a continuous improvement and consistency in Lean implementation  and ensure that you leverage and incorporate internal & external best practice.  You will assess the execution of the standard lean processes and practices through Lean Maturity Reviews to provide assurance of compliance and feedback on process effectiveness.

You will represent the Lean Programme as a member of relevant cross-functional AstraZeneca and external Lean forums, organisations and communities of practice.

Essential requirements:


•Able to demonstrate industry related experience in Lean / Six Sigma projects and programs
•Expertise in process & project management & improvement
•Track record of delivering business impact and sustained change and demonstrated understanding and application of change management principles
•Broad understanding of supply chain systems
•Working knowledge of AZ Supply System concepts

Desirable requirements:

•Six Sigma (or Lean Six Sigma) Black Belt certification
•Expertise in the application of analytical problem solving methodology
