The Director of Vision Care Operational Excellence will provide leadership and program management in the definition, deployment, and execution of Research & Development process efficiency improvement initiatives. The position will work closely with all functions across Vision Care R&D and COEs to define and implement local and global initiatives. This will occur through the use of best practices, processes, tools and governance with the aim to shorten product development cycles and enhance operational efficiencies.

•Establish and execute a cross-functional VC R&D operational efficiency improvement program that delivers measurable benefits to the business by working with cross-functional teams (Core R&D, QA, Clinic, CDMA, Regulatory, PCD, IT, etc.)
•Proactively initiate clear alignment of scope, actions, objectives and deliverables by partnering with individual functional teams and departments
•Manage specific implementation projects for R&D (e.g. ELN - electronic lab notebook) by partnering with the IT department, and leverage on the systems as foundation for overall operational improvement
•Manage and act as subject matter expert on specific initiatives e.g., operational KPIs and their monitoring and analysis
•Ensure deliverables meet R&D operational improvement targets
•Facilitate the resolution of cross-functional issues of integration, compliance, communication and coordination
•Work with VC R&D leaders and personnel to implement process improvement projects and "Best Practices" utilizing Six Sigma and other appropriate tools and concepts.

Minimum Requirements
•Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (HS +18 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs)
•The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
•10+ years of relevant work experience
•6+ years of demonstrated leadership experience
•Good understanding of R&D principles and in depth understanding of R&D cross-functional working mechanisms
•Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a consensus-building approach
•Strategic thinker and fast learner that has a hands on approach and is action oriented

Preferred Requirements
•5+ Years of R&D product development experience
•Trained in medical device Design Control
•Six Sigma Black Belt certification or training
•Experience in contact lens R&D development
