The Global Scientific Operations (SO) organization (USA, Shanghai and Basel Sites) will lead in providing centralized operational support (including responsibility for lab operations, animal care and use program, high volume outsourcing activities, and compliance) for the research activities across NIBR.

Major Accountabilities include:

•Establish and execute against immediate NIBR objectives and longer term research strategy goals, ensuring performance of scientific operational support. Programs include:
oLaboratory Services and Laboratory Animal Services (LAS)
oAnimal Welfare Compliance (AWC)
oInformation and Compliance Management (I&CM)
oOutsourcing for the Research Environment (ORE)
oLab Operations (LO)

•Lead Scientific Operations leadership team to ensure delivery on key performance targets, new ways of supporting NIBR research, and continuous improvements

•Establish and maintain strong partnership with the NIBR scientific customer communities by collaborating on establishing the strategic direction of the Scientific Operations function and by jointly assessing the portfolio of services and identifying best practice/alternative solutions

•Attract, retain, and develop top talent across all site Scientific Operations organizations

•Maintain performance to budget, resource planning, information technologies, HR, etc.; develop ongoing strategies for sustainable improvements

•Provide the NIBR CAO with relevant information to facilitate continuous improvement across the function

Ideal Background (State the minimum and desirable education and experience level)

Education:Ph.D. in a scientific discipline, advanced management sciences degree required;

Experience:A strong leader, the Global Head Scientific Operations, will combine previous knowledge/expertise in Operations with at least 10 + years working in the pharmaceutical industry with significant experience in Discovery based and Innovative work environments.

Extensive experience in leading large, multi-functional global teams is a must.

Demonstrated ability to lead and influence within a global matrixed organization.

Extensive experience leading medium/large cross-disciplinary teams.

Strong collaborative and communicative skills

Demonstrated project management, leading across geographies and cross functional teams

Strong Change Management Skills

Innovative, purpose-driven, and display a strong and consistent sense of urgency

Ability to travel
