Description
The Director of Copay will be responsible for designing, managing and tracking all Copay programs within PSS. He/she will work closely with the ED of CoPay and Patient Adherence and in collaboration with brand teams, managed markets, policy, compliance and sales to design and implement copay programs. The Head of Copay will interact with a wide variety of stakeholders, and he/she will build relationships with internal business stakeholders at all levels and with external stakeholders at large vendors and business partners. This individual will need to combine expertise in patient insights and disease specific patient journeys with knowledge of a broad array of emerging technologies and customer channels to understand financial support needs and develop appropriate copay solutions.

Primary focus will be to:
• Design, develop and execute effective copay programs
• Monitor and maintain day-to-day operations of the programs to ensure overall effectiveness and achievement of desired patient outcomes and business results
• Identify and shepherd best practice thinking and changing marketplace dynamics into the design and implementation of new programs
• Lead problem solving sessions with internal resources and external partner companies; help develop future plans and actions to drive continuous improvement

Major Accountabilities

Functional Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities of the position include:

• Copay Strategy and Design: Works cross-functionally within Patient and Specialty Services, Managed Markets, Brand teams, policy, related cross functional teams (ex. Digital Medicines) and with external resources to understand patient / customer insights, changing marketplace dynamics and key business objectives. From this, develop appropriate and effective copay programs that are well-integrated with a streamlined patient journey
• Monitor operations and execution: Implement streamlined and efficient operational processes to provide seamless, best-in-class solutions. Develop key metrics to assess value of copay program and through analytics, measure success. Recommend changes based on results.
• Program/project management: Project manage copay program implementation through the entire development process (Plan, Design, Build, Launch and Maintain)
• Continuously evaluate program processes and provide suggested improvements
• Coordinate and align other vendor activities which influence program design / processes
• Consult with all areas of the business as required to identify co-pay needs and operational requirements for program design and development including access models, pricing tactics and business rules
• Develop and present persuasive and comprehensive business cases
• Develop pricing recommendation for co-pay initiatives
• Work with Marketing, PA&HP and Analytics to determine co-pay investment models pricing tactics and business rules
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and guidelines for co-pay offers, including Government pricing standards and attestations on programs
• Lead program performance with rigorous KPI standards in regards to program execution
• Ensure optimal customer experience and satisfaction through seamless co-pay activation and adjudication at pharmacy
• Design co-pay platform(s) to support emerging channels
• Help manage Co-pay support performance to help meet financial objectives. Ensure compliance, legal oversight and operational excellence
• Cultivate detailed knowledge of patient reimbursement dynamics and co-pay burden forecasts. Leverage expertise to provide input into the organization's broader strategic patient services offerings and decisions. Clearly convey analysis of reimbursement and co-pay considerations to senior leaders within Novartis.
• Embody high performance culture, characterized by results orientation, team work, transparency, senior level impact and strong skills. Exercise influencing skills across the organization as needed and appropriate to ensure alignment and focus on supporting business initiatives and delivering results.• Bachelor's degree is required; MBA or advanced degree is preferred

• Pharmaceutical or Pharmacy Copay Vendor experience required
• 5 plus years of relevant experience
• Proven ability to think strategically to anticipate and plan for critical needs to support co-pay strategies, patient support & reimbursement and alternatives in patient financial assistance
• Knowledge regarding copay environment / prior copay experience
• Pharmacy distribution models and specialty pharmacy capabilities as it relates to biologics, specialty therapeutics, retail drugs, buy and bill products and innovative approaches to product distribution.
• Managed markets knowledge, understanding formulary position consequences, alternative funding, prior authorizations, and appeals is a plus
• High visibility and high volume
• Leadership and strategic abilities
• Travel required, 30-40%
