This role is responsible for developing and executing the strategy, resources, and capabilities for influencing, engaging, monitoring, and defending health care policies that may shape or impact patient access to Alcon devices, programs and offerings. Direct and oversee Alcon's health policy agenda in relevant areas, including federal and state legislation, healthcare reform provisions, the federal budget, drug and device supply chain, clinical data registries, CMS-related policies, etc.|
•Develop programs and positions to support Alcon's priorities through internal collaboration, as well as engagement with external stakeholders, such as legislators and policymakers.
•Closely coordinate, support and align to Alcon management strategy for ophthalmic devices within both surgical and vision care franchises.
.•Through collaboration with the Alcon reimbursement team, develop and carry out Alcon's policy agenda for Medicare and Medicaid, which would support Medicare reimbursement in hospital outpatient departments and ambulatory surgery centers.
•Work with Regulatory Affairs to develop and carry out Alcon's health policy agenda for FDA regulatory policy issues, including user fees, pre-approval requirements, post-market surveil-lance, sales and marketing communications, and clinical trials.
•Work closely with Novartis Federal and State Government Affairs colleagues to ensure Alcon's position on policy matters is understood and incorporated into the Novartis strategy.
•Develop Alcon relationships with external policy stakeholders such as industry trade associations (such as AdvaMed), hospital and ASC associations, patient advocacy groups, and professional societies.
•Support and foster relationships and activities within patient advocacy groups
•Drive and support relationships and activities with congressional stakeholders
•Collaborate with internal Government Affairs support teams
•Represent Alcon in trade association policy work groups and other forums.
Position can be based in Fort Worth, TX or Washington D.C.

Master's degree preferred. Minimum 10 years of professional experience Preferred: at least 5 years of related policy experience, including medical device industry experience, or government experience.
Experience in public policy, the FDA, and working with industry associations, patient groups, and government officials preferred.10 years relevant experience.
