Lead franchise portfolio strategy development & oversee program execution by actively partnering with Global Program Heads, NIBR, Global Drug Development Line Functions and Commercial/GMA functions to maximize the portfolio value and deliver as per plan. May deputize for Development Franchise Head.|
•Key partner to Development Franchise (DF) Head, PS&I Global Head, Finance, BD&L and peers on DF leadership team • Key integrator at development franchise level of all strategic and project operational matters, first go to person to solve any cross-functional challenges at Franchise level. Develop Franchise strategy in collaboration with Global Head Development franchise, Head of New Product, TA Heads and NIBR. • Franchise Leadership Team (FLT) core member, bring strategic view based on the integrated knowledge of all franchise programs and serve as a bridge with GPTs to share cross-program learnings. • Franchise Development Leadership Team (FDLT) co-chair and core member, responsible for its governance, effective discussion and quality decision making. • Ensure Global Line Functions are operationally aligned to meet franchise and pro-gram objectives as mandated by DCN/ IMB. •Ensure resources are in place for NIBR projects to optimize project transition to Development in line with project categorization and provide inputs into development plans. •Independent review of program strategy and development plans and ensure program risks are properly identified and mitigated. •Key interface with BD&L to execute on the Franchise pipeline strategy. •Go to person for program governance as per GDD processes and for franchise port-folio related requests e.g., IMB prioritization, early portfolio progress etc. •Prepare Franchise portfolio reviews incl. R&D Committee in partnership with NIBR. Responsible for effective internal and external communication including investor relations and pipeline communications via generation or review of all franchise levels re-ports. • Identify trade-off options and make recommendations within and across programs enabling the franchise to take advantage of new opportunities and/or to address organizational challenges. •Lead or contribute to ad-hoc initiatives aiming at improving GDD science of operations. • Translate franchise strategy into franchise objectives. •Accountable for planning, management of franchise resources (finance, headcount).Advanced degree or equivalent education/degree in life science/healthcare required.
MBA or equivalent preferred
10 years of drug development experience.
5 years people and matrix management required.
Global people management experience desirable.
Strong relationship builder and communicator with experience leading diverse work teams, driving program excellence, engaging functional partners, and partnering with Development Franchise Head and Business Franchise Head
Previous work and leadership in international and multidisciplinary drug development teams
Extensive knowledge of drug development strategy, Novartis experience in this area is preferred. Advanced planning and project management skills
Advanced understanding of business processes
Demonstrated leadership and accomplishment in all aspects of drug development
Considerable organizational awareness, including significant experience working cross-functionally and in global teams.
Strong written & verbal communication coupled with excellent problem-solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
