The Business/Technical Analyst will work as a member of the Process R&D IT team. The incumbent will be responsible for the following in the PRD Pilot Plants:

• Inventory and ownership of plant automation IT systems
• Liaising between Plant personnel and IT engineering groups
• Implementation of automation IT systems, ensuring system integrations occur as per Merck engineering specifications
• Technical ownership of documents, SOPs, systems validation, including records management control
• Research IT Point of contact for the site data center
• Ownership of any divisional application changes such as backup/recovery processes, etc.
• Participation on system design and architecture in collaboration with IT engineers

The Analyst will possess/acquire sound understanding of scientific and business processes, and operating environments in the Pilot Plants, and will facilitate/drive discussions to understand information needs for future operations planning.

The incumbent must work closely with colleagues in Process R&D, Research IT, IT Architects, Platform Leads and peers to understand the key capabilities required by the business, assess the current state, and align target state with the business strategy.

Education Minimum Requirement: Diploma in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering

Required Experience and Skills:

• A minimum of 3 years' experience in IT supporting pharmaceutical Plants
• Knowledge of SDLC, SOPs, Computer system validation (IQ/OQ/PQ)
• Experience in validated systems especially GMP environments
• An ability to gain knowledge, as it relates to client business processes and the current business environments in which they operate, and initiate improvements (short term and long term)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including collaboration, facilitation and negotiation
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and define business problems, develop business cases, and identify appropriate process and technology solutions
• Demonstrated ability to effectively work in an matrixed organization and on cross-functional teams

Preferred Experience and Skills:

• Direct experience with Security and Facilities systems, HVAC control utilities, power plant
