Description
They will work compliantly with multiple internal stakeholders for the sharing of key insights, strategies and plans in order for the teams and Novartis Neuroscience to be viewed as "one coordinated team" in the eyes of the customer. The Director of professional relations will partner with marketing, global and other headquarters functions when these teams need to work with USA medical experts for resource development, speakers' bureau and other consulting activities. They will identify areas for collaboration and efficiencies across the Novartis Neuroscience brands.
The Director of Professional relations will be the point of contact for the Pharmaceutical Executive Committee members when they are interacting with Medical Experts in the field or at Congresses.

Major Accountabilities include:
1. Build Relationships with National Medical Experts and other key stakeholders in Neuroscience.
a. Develop and leverage relationships across Neuroscience, in order to establish Novartis as a leading company within Neurology.
b. Initiate and pursue opportunities to involve Novartis in meaningful programs with Medical Experts to ensure Novartis is strategically and strongly positioned in the MS and Migraine markets.
c. Uncover new medical experts that could be developed into Novartis or Product advocates.
d. Continuously learn external customer's expertise & influence, competitive landscape and market changes/influencers.
e. Identification medical experts for internal projects where outside expertise is needed for Novartis.

2. Lead Commercial Medical Expert Engagement Plan (MEEP) within the Neuroscience Franchise
a. Develop the MEEP so we can disperse our leaders strategically, to amplify our presence in Neuroscience, uncover insights and opportunities in order to accelerate our goal and franchise priorities.
b. Work closely with field and HQ leader to identify experts to include in the MEEP and assist with creating individual strategies and objectives for each medical expert.

c. Motivate MEEP assignees to execute the plan and measure results. (ie. Market share change for MEEP targets)
d. Create forum for MEEP discussions to learn key insights, best practices, adjust the strategies and assignments. .
e. Compliantly share the Commercial MEEP strategy and targets with other functions within the Franchise to in order for other areas to be cognizant of the number of Novartis Associates targeting one customer.
f. Compliantly coordinate and connect functions of Novartis to be One Team in the Eyes of the Customer at Congresses.
g. Manage the expert databases that house all intellectual intelligence and significant activities on top medical experts. Manage the budget, provide training for users, monitor usage, and participate in periodic audits with compliance.

3. Congresses
a. Lead and compliantly coordinate Medical Expert Engagement plans and events at Congresses with all internal Novartis stakeholders.
b. Support internal team in developing, gaining approvals and executing Novartis compliant and Congress compliant programs for Medical expert's attendance.
c. Work with teams to schedule Executive Leaders Engagements and collaborate with Medical where appropriate.
d. Source & manage the Novartis approved CCS vendor for meals or events with HCPs. Secure funds and budget with the respective Brand teams.
e. Support Marketing and Congress team with securing and management of HCP meeting suites and the applications or vendors for managing the schedules.
f. Participate in planning calls with congress task force teams.
g. Conduct weekly or bi-weekly calls with commercial attendees to provide congress overview and to coordinate plans to avoid conflicts with other stakeholder teams.
h. Meet with top medical experts to gather insights to drive development of new strategies and opportunities.
i. Capture insights post congress.
j. Work with Congress leads to report outcomes and highlights from Congresses to Senior Leaders

4. Internal Team (including: Marketing, Sales, Patient Services, Market Access, Medical, Global and Co-Promotes)
a. Liaise with all internal stakeholders to ensure Medical Expert concerns/needs are addressed in a timely and thorough manner.
b. Compliantly share insights from Medical Experts with appropriate internal Novartis stakeholders.
c. Be the Point of Contact for all top US Medical Experts when other functions within the Franchise or Global are requesting external customers for internal projects.
d. Collaborate closely with the Novartis advocacy team to develop relationships with key physician and patient organizations where appropriate.

5. Extended Brand Team Member on all Neuroscience Brands
a. Participate in Brand Meetings
b. Manage Medical Experts, logistics when Medical experts are in involved with Marketing Projects to include: selection, consultant agreements, sunshine reporting and CCS vendor. This would include Advisory boards..
c. Provide feedback on IPS (Annual Strategy Plan) for budget needs respective to Professional relations.
d. Manage Budget, Task orders and receiving of goods for any vendors or consultancy where professional relations is the Project owner. (ie. CCS vendor, Medical expert databases & ad hoc consulting)
e. Obtain Governance Board and MAP approvals for projects, where professional relations lead for the brands.
f. Work closely with Peer to Peer Marketer for Speaker selection and training.

6. Management
a. Manage 1-2 associate directors of professional relations.
b. Set expectations for roles and responsibilities for their therapeutic area of focus vs. the director of professional relations role.
c. Identify and Assist with Development opportunities for their career aspirations.
d. Coach, assist and train them on responsibilities and competencies needed for their role.

7. Leadership Team Responsibilities
a. Active member of Neuroscience Strategy Team (NST). Meeting for VP direct reports and essential business partners.
b. Member or Integrated Product team (IPT) for each brand.
c. Work closely with field team to assist with strategic planning for key medical experts.
d. Support implementation of resources with top Medical Experts.

8. Compliance
a. Ensure alignment to and ownership of NPC policies including Code of Conduct and all applicable laws and regulations
b. Works to ensure a diverse and inclusive environment free from all forms of discrimination and harassment.

9. Maintains Current scientific knowledge
a. Seek out information from medical and scientific literature, scientific meetings, symposia, and seminars that differentiates Novartis products from the competition
b. Work with Sales, Marketing, R&D, Medical Affairs, Business Development and other functional areas to ensure a contemporary view of key market trends impacting the business is integrated into overall planning
c. Participate in Competitive Intelligence forums.

a. Meet and exceed yearly objectives
b. Show project completion and impact to the businessBachelor's degree in related field, MBA; Advanced degree in health sciences (MD, PhD, PharmD) preferred. Minimum10 years Sales and Product Management and/or Account Management experience • 2 years Sales Management experience • Knowledge of health care and/or pharmaceutical industry • Ability to travel 80% Desired: • Brand strategy, tactics understanding combined with strong clinical & therapeutic knowledge. • Strong overall sales acumen and business experience. • Excellent problem solving, communication, listening, and facilitation, planning, team building and communication skills. • Ability to lead through influence, strong executive presence. • Team player capable of working in large cross functional teams • Ability to drive and influence change. • Financial/budgetary experience.
