Director, Enterprise Resiliency and Business Continuity Planning

The Enterprise Resiliency Program Management Office (ERPMO) is responsible for leading, driving and facilitating the cross-divisional execution of commitments for the company Enterprise Resiliency program. In addition to this, the ERPMO has responsibilities related to Enterprise-wide Business Continuity Planning with the responsibility to assess the current state, address gaps and create a sustainability plan for this critical company capability.

Primary Responsibilities:

•Business Continuity Planning (BCP)
•With direction from Merck's Executive Committee and in close partnership with the Enterprise Risk Committee, identify and prioritize gaps with the current state of business continuity planning at Merck. Engage key senior stakeholders to define and create plans to address prioritized gaps.
•Lead appropriate analysis and development of content together with internal and external stakeholders to drive the right balance of flexibility, versatility and specificity.
•Lead presentation of status, risks and priorities to appropriate senior management and ensure status inputs are provided for the Enterprise Risk Dashboard.
•Develop a fit for purpose framework that addresses divisional, functional and critical company process needs that cover a range of Business Continuity Planning "all-hazards" scenarios e.g. from natural disasters to cyber-attacks.
•Ensure insights from after-action reviews following any incidents are considered for potential updates to Business Continuity Plans
•Facilitate the evolution of BCPs as needed and inform by lessons learned from internal and external events
•Create and maintain connection with the Risk Management process and enable the development of new BCPs aligned with identified and prioritized emerging risks
•Collaborate across the company to robustly connect with a network of subject matter experts to contribute to projects and analyses in support of best practices.
•Enterprise Resiliency
•Identify and analyze soft and hard interdependencies of the ER program. Identify opportunities to strategically re-sequence work to accelerate risk reduction for Merck, working with the core Enterprise Resiliency Team and applicable 3rd parties.
•Leverage experience and expertise in end-to-end bio-pharmaceutical operations to drive day to day strategic operations of the program. Leverage macro-level strategy and prioritization schemes to influence micro level planning and execution.
•Engage with the Enterprise Resiliency team to drive alignment of project plans from the Program level to Divisions to manufacturing and research lab sites.
•Lead monthly synchronization meetings with Project Management teams where plan adjustments are discussed and debated before finalizing and communicated accelerations and delays to sponsors and stakeholders.
•Collaborate with Project Management and Finance to drive improved financial forecasting for the Enterprise Resiliency Program.

Education Minimum Requirement:

•Bachelor's degree required Required Experience and Skills:

•A minimum of 10 years of working experience in the bio/pharmaceutical and/or healthcare related industry
•Demonstrated strong cross-functional team leadership and influencing ability
•Persuasive written and visual communications skills in a variety of settings - management presentations, one on one or group meetings
•Ability to understand end to end company operations including financial processes, critical IT infrastructure, supply chain, manufacturing, research operations and commercial operations.
