Description
The purpose of this position is to work with Research and Development cross-functional teams to advance contact lens designs through project stages, from research through product launch.
•Provides direct support to Vision Care contact lens projects as a core or sub-team member
•Develops designs using state-of-the-art mechanical and opto-mechanical design systems and methods
•Collaborates with peers, third party suppliers and internal customers to define design specifications and tolerances
•Collaborates with Lens Metrology group to define and develop methods
•Collaborates with the R&D team to advance new contact lens designs through project stages, including transfer to Supply Chain
•Develops and manages contact lens design documentation to support product registration
•Performs technology landscape assessments, selection of enabling technologies and management of third party suppliers
•Effectively collaborates with Project Heads, functional managers, Mechanical/Technical Ops and cross-franchise SMEs to support R&D targets and project milestones.
•Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of directly related work experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience (HS+13, Asc. +9, MS/PhD + 2, PhD+0).
•Ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
•Ability to work under minimum oversight to identify and prioritize work activities as necessary to achieve project goals within set timelines.
•Experience with CAD: Pro/Engineer (CREO) and/or SolidWorks
•Experience with PLM: Windchill or equivalent
•Experience in Programming: MATLAB or equivalent

Preferred Skill Sets/Experiences
•Experience in Optical Design: ZEMAX / ASAP is a plus
•Experience with ultra-precision CNC fabrication of optics is a plus
•FEA experience is a plus
•Medical device experience is a plus
