PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Clinical Pharmacodynamic Biomarkers Programis responsible for identification of biomarkers of response to new targetedagents entering clinical trials in the Developmental Therapeutics Program ofthe National Cancer Institute (NCI). The scope of work includes assay design, development, validation, fitness for purpose testing, transfer of assays toclinical laboratories, and clinical specimen analysis when required. PADISfacilitates mechanistic and performance analysis of putative anti-canceragents, diagnostic tests, and therapeutic interventions to clinicalapplications, including distinct molecular signatures for cancer, refinedmolecular assays, and state-of-the-art imaging techniques that are toohigh-risk for industry or academia to pursue.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

The Research Associate III will:

  • Develop and implement multipleximmunofluorescence assays using confocal microscopy or whole slide imaging insupport of clinical studies and initiatives
  • Perform data analysis and present results fromimmunofluorescence assay studies on samples ranging from preclinical in vitrocell line experiments to fixed xenograft tissue sections to clinical specimenbiopsies
  • Design, test, and write detailed technicalstandard operating procedures (SOPs) for imaging and analysis for transfer toexternal labs
  • Generate materials and data necessary tosupport the primary experimental objectives of the program
  • Design, perform, analyze, and present in vitroexperiments to test pharmacodynamic marker responses to novel anti-cancertherapeutics in multiple formats, but particularly in multipleximmunofluorescence analysis of tissue based assays
