Job Title : Research Associate
Location : South San Francisco, CA
Duration : 1 year contract

Note : The hiring manager's target would be for someone in level I-II, but they could stretch to level III depending on their experience and skill set. This is considered a high-risk position.


Responsibilities:
  • We are seeking a talented and motivated individual keen on utilizing structural mass spectrometry, specifically hydrogen-deuterium exchange (HX or HDX), to analyze interactions between small molecules and target proteins. The ideal candidate will support early discovery research through HDX and collaborate closely with computational scientists using the resulting data for structural predictions.
  • This role's primary responsibilities revolve around conducting and analyzing various hydrogen exchange experiments on an assortment of cellular protein targets through mass spectrometry.
  • Detailed knowledge of mass spectrometry and the standard tools utilized in protein biochemistry is a necessity for this role. If you are detail-oriented with interests in protein analytical chemistry and biophysics, we encourage you to apply.
  • Individuals who wish to gain experience in computer programming and data analysis will find this role beneficial.
  • Moreover, those with existing programming skills will relish the opportunity to refine these skills, since our data analysis pipeline is developed in-house, providing ample chances for continuous improvement in this area.

Skills:
  • This role requires a comprehensive command of the basic lab skills needed to modify and implement generic protein biochemistry workflows for specific situations.
  • Such skills may include the ability to perform buffer exchange, measure concentrations, carry out serial dilutions, and prepare buffers.
  • Previous experience with mass spectrometry and chromatographic separations is a requirement.
  • Experience with robotics, hydrogen exchange experiments, and/or computer programming in python would be an added advantage.
