Under the umbrella of the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR), the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation (GNF) located in La Jolla, California, has the support of a broad collaboration with the entire Novartis research organization, while maintaining the independence to initiate and drive independent research programs.

This position provides an excellent opportunity for highly self-motivated and result-driven individuals to join the Drug Discovery Biology and Pharmacology Group at the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation (GNF). The successful candidate will become a key contributor in a dynamic and multidisciplinary team dedicated to uncover and validate targets promoting tissue repair and resolve abnormal remodeling in multiple disease settings. The applicant will utilize various cellular and genomic approaches for target identification and validation to support drug discovery projects. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for target discovery efforts are essential.

Primary responsibilities
•Design, implement and validate relevant in vitro cell-based assays
•Employ genomic approaches such as RNAi and CRISPR/Cas9 for target identification and validation
•Document, analyze and interpret experiments
•Present results within a multi-disciplinary team environment
•Collaborate with various teams to achieve project goalMinimum requirements
•BS/MS in life sciences discipline with at least 5 years laboratory experience in cell culture, assay development and target ID
•Ability to multitask, independently analyze multi-parametric data and prioritize efforts along several lines of inquiry
•Experience with genomic manipulation of primary cells desirable
•Organized, goal-oriented with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
•Excellent written and oral communication skills
